最期の夢 ~ The Root of Heads

“A story without an end…”

Because I’m lazy, I din’t want to search a beautiful picture for this song; so, I opted for the cover album.

I somehow wanted to keep up at least four translations a month, but apparently I can’t do it in this period. Well, I’ll have free time, sooner or later.

DastinIa is one of those album I listened to just because I wanted something new and fresh, and ended up to love it. All the tracks are very strong and emotional, and is truly one of the best CDs I’ve ever listened to. If you hadn’t give it a try yet, you should, you won’t regret.

Notes

Translation revised and corrected the 19/08/2014. A lot of things changed, including the notes. Apologizes if this will cause any trouble. On a side note, this album still haven’t bored me. It doesn’t matter how many times I listen to it, the emotions it says to me, are always so strong.

最期の夢”, “saigo no yume”, “His last dream”. This is how I’d translated the title. But, it have to be read in a certain way. A translation which would -I hope- clarify what the title really means is “The dream made at one’s time of death”, where “dream” can be seen as both memories or, like it’s written in the lyrics, a dream.

始まりの時 | Tell me”; I can’t say I translated this literally. In fact, it has nothing literally. Since I decided to re-translate this song because my eyes were bleeding while reading it, I felt also obliged to explain a few points. Like this one. “始まりの時を告げる” simply –literally- means “Tell me the time of the beginning”, which I’ve personally interpreted as “Tell me how this story started”, and thus why my translation. Also, “響いてく空の声” literally means “The sky’s voice resounds”. I personally believe the construction should be “響いてく声空の” and I’ve done the translation basing on this belief.
支えを失くし | Lost my”; I believe this one is a contraction of “心の支え”, shortened to keep the metrics. Or so I think. Because “Without support” sounds so bad and out of context, at least for me.

最期の夢

始まりの時を告げる 響いてく空の声
少年の瞳に映る 終わらない物語・・・

hajimari no toki wo tsugeru hibiiteku sora no koe
shounen no hitomi ni utsuru owaranai monogatari…

Tell me how it begun, when his voice resounded in the sky
And what the boy’s eyes reflected, was a story without an end…

その夢は残酷で こぼれでた呼吸さえ震えた
何一つ止められず 奪われた 人々の笑顔を

sono yume wa zankoku de kobore deta kokyuu sae furueta
nanihitotsu tomerarezu ubawareta hitobito no egao wo

That dream, full of cruelty, made even my breathe tremble
Nobody could prevent people from losing their smile

傷つけて 何度も傷つけて
尊き命さえ 消えてく夢の中
全てここから 現実になろうと
少年は気付かないだそう

kizudzukete nandomo kizudzukete
toutoki inochi sae kieteku yume no naka
subete koko kara genjitsu ni narou to
shounen wa kidzukanai dasou

It hurts, and it keep hurting
A precious life is vanishing within a dream
Even if everything here will become true
The boy will never know

足元に広がってゆく 黒い霧 掻き分けて
その夢を誰に伝える? 息潜め立ちすくむ

ashimoto ni hirogatte yuku kuroikiri kakiwakete
sono yume wo dare ni tsutaeru? iki hisome tachisukumu

Spreading at my feet, the thick fog I’m going through
To who will I tell that dream? I hold my breath, petrified

いつからか気付いてた その夢は未来と過去の記憶
繰り返し訪れる “哀しみ”と “憎しみ”の感情

itsukara ka kidzuiteta sono yume wa mirai to kako no mono
kurikaeshi otozureru “kanashiki” to “nikushimi” no kanjou

I’ve realized it, that dream is his future and past memories
Keep repeating those feelings of “sadness” and “hatred”

叫んでも 何度も叫んでも
堕ちたこの夢から もう抜け出せなくて
幾多の願い 重ねた祈り
少年は息を止めた・・・

sakende mo nandomo sakende mo
ochita kono yume kara mou nukedasenakute
ikuta no negai kasaneta inori
shounen wa iki wo tometa…

I scream, and keep screaming
Fallen into this dream, I can’t go out anymore
Piled up, all my desires and prayers
But the boy stopped breathing…

支えを失くし 変わり始める
一つずつ崩れてく刹那
予言はまるで真実のように
その時を待つ・・・

sasae wo nakushi kawari hajimeru
hitotsuzutsu kuzureteku setsuna
yogen wa marude shinjitsu no youni
sono toki wo matsu…

Lost my will, everything start to change
Collapsing one by one, in an instant
That premonition is exactly like reality
I wait for that time…

傷つけて 何度も傷つけて
尊き命さえ 消えてく現実を
全て見ていた少年の瞳に
どんな “終焉「おわり」”を映した・・・?

kizutsukete nandomo kizutsukete
toutoki inochi sae kieteku genjitsu wo
subete miteita shounen no hitomi ni
donna “owari” wo utsushita…?

It hurts, and it keep hurting
A precious life is vanishing within reality
I saw everything, within the boy’s eyes
But which “end” was reflected…?
