常世想兼神 ~ UNDEAD CORPORATION

After all, the lyrics I love most are those related to the characters. And this is one of them. But I still hate the font used.

Anyway, since I don’t have much to say (or better, I don’t have the time nor mind to do so), enjoy the translation. Special thanks to a dear friend of mine, I wouldn’t be able to finish (and probably even started) this without him <3

Notes

常世想兼神 | The Eternal Omoikane”; in romaji, “tokoyo omohikane no kami” –pronunciation kindly written in the booklet. At the beginning, I didn’t want to give a translation of the title, each and every attempt to put it in English basically ruins it; because Pine is a genius. In every sense. Also, the title inside the booklet is written as “常世思兼神”, which actually has no differences with the “other” title in terms of meaning and pronunciation. Omoikane (written as 思兼) is the Shinto God of wisdom; his name in the Kujiki, an historical Japanese text, is Yagokoro Omoikane no Mikoto, and is also called Tokoyo no Omoikane no Kami. Guess this is enough to make you understand why I didn’t want to give a translation at first.

おやおや毒を | Oh my”; “poison” is almost certainly referred to the Hourai medicine, or at least that’s what I though after reading the lyrics. Of course, it might just be some other “poison”, but still, this is how I see it~
たんと苦しむ | Don’t worry”;  the literal translation is something like “It’s fine, I/you will suffer”, though the particles used are really strong and also pretty “rude”; maybe it won’t help, but I had Yuuka in my mind while reading this passage w. Anyway, it’s basically impossible to put this “feeling” into English, I hope my translation won’t sound too odd-
いかなる誹り | Even if I will”; the verb isn’t at passive form, but I think in this way the translation sounds way better. Literal, it means “Even if I will receive/suffer for slanders”, but as I’ve already said, I believe it sounds a little too odd.
穢れし月の | The Moon’s”; I found it beautiful how it can means both “Moon’s people (lunarians)” or “The Moon (is my) nation” –in the sense of “The Moon is where I come from”. It’s hard to say which one is the most appropriate translation here, since both really fits the context, thus my decision to stick with the most “common” meaning.
我が君にものすもの | If there are emotions”; literally, “If there are things in my lord”. As for me, I saw this passage with the meaning of “No matter what, my Lord is still a person”. Somehow I had this “Curiosity kills the cat” feeling when reading this phrase.
密かなる遊びせんと | This secret”; excuse me for this extremely liberal translation, but I really wanted to give it a “normal” meaning. The literal translation is “If I play with (this) secret I will pile up a mountain of corpses”, which (for me) sounds too odd. Also, it’s not that clear to me in which sense “play” is used here, if it really means “to fool around” or has some other meaning. Well, I guess it all depends on how you want to read the whole text.
玉鬘をこの手に巻いて | With this hands”; Kamazura is one of the chapters from “The Tale of Genji”. I don’t really know much about this story, nor I have time to go and find out what’s the connection with this text; so if you want further information, just Google it.

常世想兼神

おやおや毒を喰ろうたか
鬼喰ひはどこへ逃げた
おやおや声も出せぬか
たんと苦しむがよいわ
きりきり舞いを始むか
見ものじゃ

oyaoya doku wo kurouta ka
onikuhi wa doko e nigeta
oyaoya koe mo dasenu ka
tanto kurushimu ga yoi wa
kirikirimai wo hajimu ka
mi mono ja

Oh my, should I drink this poison?
Where has the demon eater gone?
Oh my, even my voice doesn’t come out?
Don’t worry, you will suffer a lot
Will I start to wander?
You will see

地を這う蟲殺めようと 何れの咎あろう
いかなる誹り受くとも 血塗れた路を行く

chi wo hau mushi ayameyou to izure no toga arou
ikanaru soshiri uku tomo chinureta michi wo yuku

Shall I kill bugs crawling the ground even if they have no fault?
Even if I will be covered with slanders, I will follow a bloodstained path

穢れし月の民よ これより告ることを聴け!
我が君にものすものがあらば 見ぬべきものを見よう

kegareshi tsuki no tami yo koreyori kokuru koto wo kike!
wagakimi ni mono su mono ga araba shinu beki mono wo miyou

The Moon’s people are corrupted. Listen to what I want to confess!
If there are emotions in my Lord, he will look at what he shouldn’t see

毒の味は甘かろう
辞世の句もしたたむか
おやおやもう虫の息か
楽しや

doku no aji wa amakarou
jisei no ku moshi tatamu ka
oyaoya mou mushi no iki ka
tanoshi ya

The poison’s flavor is sweet
What if the death disappears?
Oh my, am I already at my last breath?
It’s funny

草喰む蟲殺めようと 何れの咎あろう
密かなる遊びせんと 屍骸の山築く

kusa kumu mushi ayameyou to izure no toga arou
hisoka naru asobisen to mukuro no yama kizuku

Shall I kill bugs eating the grass even if they have no fault?
This secret I play with, will make me pile up corpses

永くつづく刻さえ たまゆらに変わりゆく
願いの如く鬼と成りて この手を紅く染めん
塵や芥の屍さえ 星屑に変わりゆく
玉鬘をこの手に巻いて ともに月を愛でよう

nagaku tsudzuku toki sae tamayura ni kawari yuku
negai no gotoku oni to narite kono te wo akaku somen
gomi ya  gomi no shikabane sae hashikuzu ni kawari yuku
kamakazura wo kono te ni maite tomoni tsuki wo medeyou

Even the eternity changes in a fleeting moment
If my wish is to become like a demon, I will dye my hands in red
Even that garbage called corpse changes under the stardust
With this hands I twine the Tamakazura; let’s just admire the Moon together

蓬莱の薬を啖うた 我らもまたかなし
いかに齢を重ねど 枯れゆくことも無し

hourai no kusuri wo kuuta warera mo mata kanashi
ikani yowai wo kasane do kare yuku koto mo nashi

We drank the Hourai medicine, but we’re still sad
How many years have passed without us changed?

穢れし月の民よ これより告ることを聴け!
我が君にものすものがあらば 見ぬべきものを見よう
塵や芥の屍さえ 星屑に変わりゆく
玉鬘をこの手に巻いて ともに月を愛でよう

kagareshi tsuki no tami yo koreyori kokuru koto wo kike!
wagakimi ni mono su mono ga araba shinu beki mono wo miyou
gomi ya  gomi no shikabane sae hashikuzu ni kawari yuku
kamakatsura wo kono te ni maite tomoni tsuki wo medeyou

The Moon’s people are corrupted. Listen to what I want to confess!
If there are emotions in my Lord, he will look at what he shouldn’t see
Even that garbage called corpse changes under the stardust
With this hands I twine the Tamakazura; let’s just admire the Moon together
