今並べ ~ BUTAOTOME

I think I’ve never said too many things when it comes time to speaking about BUTAOTOME, and I think I won’t ever say too many things. It was a nice song though, even if in some part I wasn’t sure how to put it in English. And, this is all~

Notes

今並べ | Now line up”; it sounds quite strange, but this is the title. The verb also means “To enumerate”, but I’m not really sure about what it can be referred to.
無い者は| But I envy”; I still have no idea how to translate this phrase. “無い者はただ羨む” would make sense, “有る者をただ羨む” would make sense, but the whole phrase to me has no sense, since it literally sounds like “What there isn’t envies what there is”. I hope you’ll forgive me for this liberal translation, this is one of those phrases where I can grasp the meaning but I have no idea how to put it in English-

今並べ

それじゃお話にならない
すべての真実に今すぐ土下座

soreja ohanashi ni naranai
subete no hontou ni imasugu dogeza

Well, it’s not even worth considering it
The whole reality is kneeling down

嗚呼カラカラカラ空回り
安いおもちゃの様な言葉達
あれよあれよと吹き出した
出鱈目デカダンス

aa kara kara kara karamawari
yasui omocha no you na kotobatachi
are yo are yo to fukidashita
detarame dekadansu

Ah, they are spin spin spin spinning
Like words of a cheap plaything
Oh my, my, you’ve burst into laugh in front of
This bullshit decadence

無い者は有る者をただ羨む

nai mono wa aru mono wo tada urayamu

Those who aren’t just envy those who are

手を伸ばし掴もうとはせずに
今あるものを並べるゲーム
それじゃお話にならない
使った言葉に今すぐ土下座

te wo nobashi tsukamou to wa sezuni
ima aru mono wo naraberu geemu
soreja ohanashi ni naranai
tsukatta kotoba ni imasugu dogeza

Without even trying to grasp this hand
Now line up what there is, like a game
Well, it’s not even worth considering it
All the said words are kneeling down

嗚呼キラキラキラ輝いた
フェイクダイアの様なガラス玉
騙し騙しで生きてきた
無茶苦茶なバランス

aa kira kira kira kagayaita
feiku daia no you na garasu dama
damashidamashi de ikite kita
muchakucha na baransu

Ah, it spark spark spark sparkled
Like a fake diamond made of glass
I lived on using every possible trick
It’s an absurd balance

無い者が無い者をまた蔑む

nai mono ga nai mono wo mata sagesumu

Those who aren’t also despise others who aren’t

眼を開き見ようともせずに
苦労自慢を並べるゲーム
「クレバー」そう言われたいだけ
すべての真実に今すぐ土下座

me wo hiraki miyou to mo sezu ni
kurou jiman wo naraberu geemu
「kurebaa」 sou iwaretai dake
subete no hontou ni imasugu dogeza

Without even trying to open these eyes
Line up your troubles and prides, like a game
“Clever” that’s what I want to be said, but
The whole reality is kneeling down

手を伸ばし掴もうとはせずに
今あるものを並べるゲーム
「クレバー」そう言われたいだけ
すべての真実に今すぐ土下座

te wo nobashi tsukamou to wa sezuni
ima aru mono wo naraberu geemu
「kureba」 sou iwaretai dake
subete no hontou ni imasugu dogeza

Without even trying to grasp this hand
Now line up what there is, like a game
“Clever” that’s what I want to be said, but
The whole reality is kneeling down

  1. Just what i was waiting for (ヽ´ω`).
    有難う.

  2. Thank you so much *o*

  3. Well just came across this song and since it’s already a two years aged post I hesitated leaving an actual comment but here it seems lyrics are a bit off so… I’m sorry but maybe you should edit it ’cause it just appears that some part of your translation make no sense at all :/
For example “kureba” here written in katakana means simply “clever” and isn’t linked to any verb whatsoever! Satori is only saying that’s the way she’d call herself!
Then a correct translation for “nai mono ha aru mono wo tada urayamu” could be “the things that do not exist can only envy those who do” or closer to the original version could be “what is not (there) only envy what is (there)”; as “nai mono ga nai mono wo mata sagesumu” could also be “what isn’t can only despise (the fact of) not being (there)” something like that but keep it mind even if the song is told from Satori’s pov it doesn’t mean she’s the subject of every sentence…!

    • Never hesitate leaving a comment, expecially on old translations; sadly, I don’t have the time to revise all my old posts, and only from time to time I completely rewrite a translation. Plus, there are always errors I make out of tiredeness/distraction, just like クレバー.
As for 無い者は有る者をただ羨む, I’ve translated it as “Those who aren’t envy those who are”, since I believe it’s the best solution to keep the original meaning.
無い者が無い者をまた蔑む is most likely a “consequence” of “無い者は有る者をただ羨む” and, similarly to what you’ve written, can be translated as “Those who aren’t still hate not being”. But, while making sense, I’m still skeptical about this solution since the structure would have been different -I can’t explain why it’s “無い者が無い者” and not “無い者が無い様子” or something else. I personally think this phrase actually means “People who aren’t (there) despise others who aren’t (there)”, thus why my translation as “Those who aren’t also despise others who aren’t”.
I personally preferred translating “者” as “person” since I think it’s more appropriated for the context and because of other more grammatical reasons.

This said, thank you for pointing out the errors!
