軌道エレベーターから見える月 ~ Pizuya’s Cell

I’m starting to write a lot of notes again. And I’m not sure it’s a good thing.

Favorite track of the album. pizuya for sure knows how to make awesome songs, and even if I didn’t love the rest of the CD as much as Grand-Guignol or Clair de Lune –just to mention a couple of them- this song simply wins so much. One of the best “向こう側の月” arrangements around at the moment in my opinion.

Anyway, a little note about “向こう側の月” since it’s the first time I come across this theme on my blog: while is it true that it can be translated as “The Far Side of the Moon”, I way prefer translate it as “The Other Side of the Moon”. I don’t know why, but I find it musically better and way more suggestive. Also, for your information, I’m aware this song has already been translated. Stated this, enjoy the translation and especially the song.

Notes

軌道エレベーターから見える月”, “kidou erebeetaa kara mieru tsuki”, “The moon seen from a space elevator”. Or, if you prefer a more liberal translation, “How the moon looks like from a space elevator” –I personally prefer the first one, but the second one is probably better to get the meaning.
ブラインドの | As the moon”; I’ve avoided to write it because I don’t think it fits this translation, but I believe “blind gaps” can be translate as “blind spots” as well. Considering how all the verbs are centered about the “being unnoticed” situation, I pretty much believe the meaning is that one.
囁きに惑わされては | You can’t”; literally, “to be bewitched/seduced by whispers is no good”. I’ve translated this stanza assuming that the phrase would be “囁きに惑わされては駄目だと貴方は言うのならいっそこの身体が時を止めるまで僕から全ての音を奪って” so that the “rather” part becomes “この身体が時を止めるまで”.
この身体が時 | Waiting”; first, there’s no “waiting”. Second, this phrase taken by itself means “Until this body will stop time”. Third, because of previous note, I’ve decided to interpret it differently and give a meaning that would actually fit –honestly, “Until when this body will stop time” means absolutely nothing.
奪って| I’ll erase”; I’ve decided to change verb and not using “to steal”, since I really wanted to give a stronger meaning to the whole translation –and I have the feeling it’s better in this way. Literal translation would be “I steal every sound from myself”.
擦れ違う人の流れに | As people”; literally, “I melted into the flown of people passing by quietly”.
誰の記憶 | As if”; literally, “as if I could disappear from one’s memory”. Not sure if it’s a typo and it’s supposed to be “誰も記憶” –daremo kioku- but I’ve translated this phrase as if it was written like this.

軌道エレベーターから見える月

薄い光が差し込んだ
日当たりの悪い部屋
皺だらけのシーツに零れた
ブラインドの隙間から忍び寄る月

usui hikari ga sashikonda
hiatari no warui heya
shiwadarake no shiitsu ni koboreta
buraindo no sukima kara shinobiyoru tsuki

A faint light slipped through
Into this dark room
Shining on these creased sheets
As the moon creeps through blind gaps

――Breaker
囁きに惑わされては駄目だと
貴方は言うのならいっそ
この身体が時を止めるまで
奪って 僕から全ての音を

――Breaker
sasayaki ni madowasarete wa dame da to
anata wa iu no nara isso
kono karada ga toki wo tomeru made
ubatte boku kara subete no oto wo

––Breaker
You can’t be deceived by whispers
You say, yet rather than
Waiting for time to stop flowing in this body
I’ll erase every sound within myself

擦れ違う人の流れに
溶け込んだまま そっと
形を変え 塵も残さず
誰の記憶からも抜け出せるとしたら

surechigau hito no nagare ni
tokekonda mama sotto
katachi wo kae chiri mo nokosazu
dare no kioku kara mo nukedaseru to shitara

As people kept passing by, incessantly
I vanished into them, quietly
Changing myself, leaving no trace
As if I could disappear from everyone’s memory

――Cry more
これからも、これまでさえも
世界に居ないことにしてくれよ
まだ裏側を守りたいから
心は捨て去っても構わない

――Cry more
korekara mo, koremade sae mo
sekai ni inai koto ni shitekure yo
mada uragawa wo mamoritai kara
kokoro wa sutesatte mo kamawanai

––Cry more
From now on, and for the time being
Pretend as if I’ve never been in this world
Because all I want is to protect the other side
I don’t care if I must throw away even my heart

――Breaker
囁きに惑わされては駄目だと
貴方は言うのならいっそ
この身体が時を止めるまで
奪って 僕から全ての音を

――Breaker
sasayaki ni madowasarete wa dame da to
anata wa iu no nara isso
kono karada ga toki wo tomeru made
ubatte boku kara subete no oto wo

––Breaker
You can’t be deceived by whispers
You say, yet rather than
Waiting for time to stop flowing in this body
I’ll erase every sound within myself
